The Maurice Lucas Foundation (ML20) was founded in honor of Maurice Lucas and his legacy of service to the Portland community. Fans knew Maurice as The Enforcer—a five-time NBA All-Star, the original power forward, and former NBA champion Portland Trail Blazer and assistant coach. Portlanders remember Maurice for his character as much as his athletic achievements. He was passionate about giving back to his community and he lived that every day. He treated each person he met with respect. He was an active contributor to charitable organizations, and he volunteered countless hours to coaching and mentoring youth. The foundation stands as a continuance of Maurice’s dedication to empower Portland’s youth with opportunities for positive developmental growth through sport. Learn more at ml20.org.

Founded in 1868 by noted humanitarian Thomas Lamb Eliot, OHS is the third-oldest humane society in the nation and the oldest in the West. Eliot initially established OHS to stop the neglect and abuse of draft animals. The mission expanded to include companion animals and, until 1933, orphaned children. OHS is today the largest humane society in the Northwest, and adopts more animals from our Portland shelter than any other single-facility shelter on the West Coast. OHS puts no time limits on how long animals remain at the shelter—a pet stays available for adoption for as long as needed to find a loving home. If a pet in our care needs medical attention, our veterinary hospital provides the pet with same level of care you would want your own pet to receive. Learn more at oregonhumane.org
PHFS helps homeless families with children get back into permanent housing and learn new life skills to help them stay there. We provide mobile housing specialist case management services. This means that our staff meets families where it is convenient for them, and staff is able to go around with the families to support them at housing appointments, job interviews, social service agencies, and community connection opportunities. About half of the families we serve also live in our shelters, the Goose Hollow Family Shelter and the Thirteen Salmon Family Center. The Goose Hollow Family Shelter is a night shelter for 8 homeless families with children. Families are able to stay at the shelter for about 30-60 days. The Thirteen Salmon Family Center is a day shelter for the families that are staying at the Goose Hollow Family Shelter. Learn more at pdxhfs.org
